We were able to do the Bengal Triathlon at ISU at the end of April. This Triathlon is so fun! I love it! the swim is the night before which is nice because you don't have to ride your bike wet, and the run is around campus on red hill, which is a very scenic run. For the swim we just went with Carter and switched inbetween our swims. Mike did great! While swimming I think about everything except how many laps I have done. This was my thought process on just my first lap. I hope I do good, what if I could swim super fast like Michael Phelps, the olympics are this summer, I love summer, I should plant tomatoes next week so I could have salsa this summer, I want salsa, ooo I want Coasta Vida:) and so on. So you can see by the time the girl counting my laps gave me the, 'last lap' sign I was a little unprepared and I realized I could have gone a lot faster, but I was okay with my time. After the swim I had the worst headache so Mike decided it would be best if we went to get some food and we went to Coasta Vida,YAY!! which to me is like a drug! I ate my pork salad(with salsa) and with in the first two bites I was instantly cured!! I'm telling you I could have Coasta Vida every day and be a Happy Camper. But then they would make a sitcom about me and how bad it is to eat out everyday. The next day for the Bike/Run portion of the TRI we woke up early and Dad Williams (I got the saying 'Dad Williams' from Tosha. Thanks tosh) helped watch Carter for us as we did the TRI. After the athletes finished the TRI they had Kiwi Loco for everyone in the tri, drug number two for me:) They also had bagels from 5th street bagelry.YUM! Honestly, most people do triathlons to be fit, work out, push themselves to do better, go faster and all that fun stuff, on the other hand there is me, who signs up to get a shirt, frozen yogurt and bagels. I know, I know there are easier ways of getting shirts, frozen yogurt and bagels without swimming 700yds, biking 11 miles and running a 5k (3.2 miles) but I also love the atmosphere, people and the feeling of being a part of something. This was my third triathlon and I have to say it has been my favorite I loved every minute of it! maybe because after the Tri Dad Williams took us to . . .you guest it, Coasta Vida :D I know I need help I'M ADDICTED.
Then after lunch we went home to relax for a while but not long because Mike's friend Greg invited us to go fourwheeling that night. It was so much fun Carter loved to sit bewteen us and kept falling asleep. It was so beautiful up there because everything was starting to turn green and the flowers were blooming.
This is the top of where the fourwheeling ride took us. Pictures just can't do it justice you can see for miles! |
Sweet picture after the TRI with Benny the Bengal and the Idaho Central Bear Carter was a little concerned about the ICCU bear getting in the picture, but he warmed up and waved after the picture. |
